Computing Foundations: Data - 16579 - CSCI 0111 - S01
CS111 can be taken either synchronously (virtual lectures and "in-class" activities) or asynchronously (recorded lectures and separate study groups for "in-class" activities). The asynchronous option can accommodate students who need to register for another course whose time overlaps that of 111. Students trying to complete.a CS intro sequence this year should take CS111 in the fall and CS0180 in either spring or summer. There will be a separate track of advanced exercises embedded within 111 for those students preparing for 18 (these will not affect grades in 111). Satisfactory performance on these exercises will be needed to get an override code for CS18 later this year. The core of 111---including content, lecture pacing, and required workload---will remain unchanged, still designed for students who are new to computing. With two faculty on the course, we will be able to support both audiences. Students who need an override to take the asynchronous section should request the override within CAB, including an explanation of why you cannot participate in the online lectures for the synchronous online section.
